It is an agency of the Department of Transport and Main Roads first introduced by the Queensland Government to coordinate and integrate bus, ferry and rail services to deliver high-quality public transport services, ticketing, information and infrastructure.


TransLink services operate across 23 zones and 7 regions in South East Queensland including Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast; Cairns, and Mackay.

Easy to find the route

If you are new to Australia and want to use public transport for the first time and you don't know anything about it? Don't worry at all. Google map is there for you.

You just need to give your destination and select the transport type.It will display comprehensive routine timetable and what you can do is, just follow it.

Ticket Types

Whether you're an everyday public transport user, visitor, business or group, or school student, TransLink has a ticket type to suit your needs.

go card
go card is TransLink's electronic ticket to fast, easy and convenient travel. You can use it to travel on all TransLink bus, train (including Airtrain), ferry and tram services.

The best part about go card is it's
  • Cheaper than the cost of a paper ticket. 
  • Convenient to manage. 
  • Easy to top-up and use. 
  • Available for adults, children, concessions and seniors. 

Types of go card

It is available for adults, children, and eligible seniors and concession card holders.
Children, seniors and concession go card holders travel at 50% of the normal adult fares.

We also have tickets for tourists and visitors and for business.

15 years and over Expires 10 years after day of issue


5 - 14 years old (inclusive) Expires on the child's 15th birthday.

Full-time secondary and tertiary students, pensioners, veterans.


Visitors and tourists. Customers aged 15 years of age or older.


Fares

Your fare is automatically calculated and deducted from your card balance, there's no need to worry about transfers, off-peak or frequent user travel discounts.

Remember, if you forget to touch on or off, you may be charged a fixed fare at the end of your trip.

All fares are based on the number of zones you travel in on your journey. Fare prices will vary depending on if you're travelling:
  • During off-peak or peak times, and 
  • Using a go card or paper ticket.

Buy and top-up go card

When you purchase your go card you'll pay a refundable deposit of $10 (adult) or $5 (child, concession, senior).

If you no longer need your go card, you can request a refund of the deposit plus any travel balance on your go card (less any outstanding fares, fees and charges).

Buy at a retailer
The fastest way is at one of many go card retail locations, including:

  • 7-Eleven stores and selected retailers where you see the 'buy' symbol 
  • Queensland Rail Station ticket offices 
  • Fare machines at G:link and busway stations 
  • On board Brisbane City Council CityCat and Ferries.

  • Non-English speaking callers: Call 13 12 30 and request a three-way conversation with an interpreter. We also have some travel information available in other languages. 
  • Callers who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impediment can contact us through the National Relay Service which offers a number of call options, including:

Go card online registration

After bought the go card we need to register the card online.

Top-up go card
  • Auto top-up 
The easiest way to ensure you always have enough money to travel is to use your Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card to set up an auto top-up. You'll never have to worry about waiting in line to top up your go card or running out of money on your card.

When your go card balance falls below $5, it will automatically top-up with the amount of your choice. The minimum top-up amount is $20.

No money is deducted from your account unless you're using your go card to travel.

If you don't touch on within 6 months of an auto-top, the money will be returned to your debit or credit card.

Ready to travel

Touch your go card on at an electronic card reader. The sound and lights will be different depending on your type of card.

The card reader will give:
  • A green light and one beep for adult cards 
  • An amber light and two beeps for children, seniors and concession cards. 

Getting a red light or a cross?
Try again, or try touching another card reader. Now be sure to touch off at the end of your journey.



How to use a fare machine

Fare machines are available at selected bus way, train and tram stations.
You can:
  • Buy an adult go card at a bus way and tram station fare machine 
  • Top up your go card at any fare machine 
  • Buy paper tickets at any fare machine.


MyTransLink app
MyTransLink makes accessing bus, train, ferry and tram information easy. The app's customization features ensure you get the service updates that matter to you.

MyTransLink features
  • Trip announcer (new feature): Follow your bus, train, ferry or tram trip while on-board to see upcoming stops and remaining journey time. Set an audio or visual stop alert for your destination stop. 
  • Stop timetable: See the next services departing your stop with real-time information. 
  • Journey planner: Plan your bus, train, ferry and tram journey in South East Queensland and Cairns. 
  • Find stops: Find nearby stops, stations or terminals. 
  • My Services: Set your favorite bus, train, ferry or tram service to get up-to-date notifications and updates.


Paper tickets
  • A one-way paper ticket can be used for bus, train, ferry and tram travel over a 2-hour period. 
  • Your paper ticket doesn't include a return journey. You will need to purchase another paper ticket or go card. 
  • Transfers must be made between different route numbered services and within the zones your ticket is valid for.
